The Role
• An UHNW family based in Oxfordshire is seeking an experienced, discreet, and highly organised Private Chef to join their household team on a Thursday to Sunday basis.
• This is a hands-on role suited to a quick-thinking & agile chef who understands the expectations of private service and is comfortable working to very detailed dietary and operational requirements. The ideal candidate will prepare restaurant quality food with a home-cooked, family feeling. Must be a health focussed chef and capable of adhering to extreme dietary preferences.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for all food preparation, kitchen organisation, and food ordering during their working days, delivering consistently high standards while maintaining absolute discretion.
• The menu emphasises on organic, seasonal produce, protein-rich menus, and precise adherence to individual dietary requirements.
Kitchen & Food Preparation
• Take full responsibility for the kitchen.
• Ensure the kitchen is always immaculate and left in perfect order at the end of service.
• Prepare daily lunch and dinner to be ready at agreed service times.
• Prepare fresh gluten-free wholemeal bread daily.
• Prepare mid-morning breakfast items and Saturday brunch when required.
• Prepare packed lunches/wraps for school as directed.
Menus & Cooking Style
• Plan and submit menus in advance for approval but be ready to respond to spontaneous requests when needed.
• Cook from scratch using organic, seasonal ingredients.
• Confidently cater for guests when required.
• Follow all dietary requirements, intolerances, and food preferences without exception.
• Check fridges, pantry, and storage daily and order only what is required for approved menus.
• Work closely with the House Manager and wider household team.
The Ideal Candidate
• Proven experience as a Private Chef within an UHNW household.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Strong understanding of restricted diets and food intolerances.
• Confident scratch cook, including breads, sauces, dressings, and broths.
• Calm, discreet, and professional with excellent personal presentation.
• Able to work independently while integrating smoothly into an established household team.
• Is passionate about food and generates a homely environment in the Kitchen.
• Background in organic, seasonal, and health-led cooking.
• UK driver essential.
Package
• Competitive salary, dependent on experience. Self Employed Day Rate.
• Location: Oxfordshire & Suffolk. Primary Residence is Oxfordshire, near Banbury.
• Schedule: Thursday to Sunday
• Hours: Approx. 09:00 – 18:00 (flexibility required) - they have lunch at 1pm and dinner at 6pm - all served platter style - you prepare and serve it, then leave. Between 1-2pm you have a break. Chefs arrive morning of the day they are cooking and do not require prep days, menus are decided on the day and ingredients purchased by the team.
Fully staffed household and it is essential you work well in a team. You are well supported. Accommodation can be provided for the dates you work. You must be a driver with your own car to get there. This can be ongoing beyond July, but the family will be away for the summer and return in September.
