A super professional chalet cook/host is required for a privately owned chalet in Courchevel 1550 for the second part of the upcoming winter season from early Feb, to mid/end of April. You must be able to stay for the duration of those dates.
The property is split over 3 floors and consists of 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, but is not always fully occupied. The chalet is owned by a group of individuals who divide up the weeks available between themselves, and then have occasional weeks that are let out to returning guests, or friends of theirs.
The client is looking for someone who is very personable, sensible and reliable who is happy to cook, clean and manage the property to ensure a smooth visit for the guests. You will work alone and live in the chalet - bedroom and bathroom provided which is in the chalet, and the entrance is shared with the guests.
You will be responsible for cooking/serving breakfast, providing afternoon tea, and dinner - this is usually canapes and two or three courses and menus will be made bespoke to individual client requirements. If there are children in residence then an earlier childrens tea will be required. You will be responsible for providing groceries for lunch (bread, pates etc) but do not need to be in the chalet to serve it - this is only required if requested.
You will also be responsible for all the shopping, daily cleaning of the rooms and chalet, doing the fire, lighting the fire, keeping kitchen clean and organised, laying and clearing tables, and greeting/welcoming guests and ensuring they have everything they need. Any damage/maintenance issues will be your responsibility to report and oversee contractors.
Each week, at changeover, you will be responsible for changing the sheets and towels and getting the rooms ready for the new guests. Sheets and towels are sent out externally, and you will manage all of this.
You will need to be able to drive ideally and a use of a car is available if needed. French speaking is not essential, but could be useful.
Ideally you will have done a role like this before, in a ski resort, enjoy living and working in a ski resort and happy to be responsible and reliable to ensure the chalet owners mind is at rest that all is in hand! You will liaise directly with the clients regarding their menu requirements and requests, so must be organised and happy to manage this and their expectations - a confident manner will be essential to be able to be front facing with the guests.
A weekly salary is offered with all food/drink included. You will also be supplied with a ski pass/ski hire. Someone who enjoys skiing and the lifestyle is essential.
This role is best suited to a single individual, as the accommodation is not suitable for a couple.
If you are interested in this role, please e mail ella@sugarellacooks.co.uk with your CV, some sample menus of things you might cook and some of your food images of food you have cooked before.
