A Permanent, live in Housekeeper is required on a rural Estate in Cumbria, near Penrith for a wonderful family. The role requires someone with a hard working, and flexible attitude who is happy to live and work on a rural, remote, but beautiful, Estate.
The house is a large traditional home occupied by two main adult principals, with visiting grown up children (aged between 20-30) and friends/family. There are also other part time staff that work in the house, and a wider Estate team, and it is important this person has a willing attitude and is a team player.
The main duties will be the cleaning and care of the large Principal Home which will include, all day to day cleaning and management of the home.
Jobs to include, but not limited to:
• Cleaning all rooms and bathrooms
• Household laundry/ironing and wardrobe management
• Stripping and making beds • Dusting, hoovering, mopping etc.
• Care of specialist antiques and artwork
• Polishing silver
• Laying and clearing tables
• Shopping (groceries and household stock) and managing cupboards/fridges/larder area etc
• Keeping everything organised, tidy and in order
• Light family cooking
• Clearing, laying and lighting fireplaces
• Helping with 4 dogs (2 jack russels and 2 daschunds) – to include walking, taking to vet, feeding etc
• Assistance to the principals with any ad hoc requests
• When the principals are away, the candidate will need to have sole care of the dogs (with assistance from other staff members). It is very important the candidate loves dogs.
• The above list is not exhaustive, additional tasks/errands to ensure the household runs smoothly are to be expected.
There is another property owned by the family which would need to be looked after/cleaned, so that it is kept visitor ready to welcome guests that might be staying there on occasions. This house is attached to the property that is provided for this staff member, but most of the time it will be empty.
This will be a 5 day a week role, Monday to Friday with occasional weekends required when they are busy (with notice given). Hours will depend on what is happening, but the role will be based around an 8 hour day - approx 8-4 (40 hour week). Flexibility is required to work occasional evenings/earlier mornings if required (notice given).
Accommodation provided in a 2 bedroom newly renovated cottage (furnished or unfurnished) a couple of miles away from the house. Partners/ well behaved pets considered. No bills applicable. The applicant must be a driver due to the rural location, and ideally have their own car.
