Nutrition Focussed Cook/Allrounder required for Private Home – Monday to Friday - West London – Live out

A cook is required for a family of 5 in West London. The cook must be nutrition focussed and have a strong passion for cooking healthy, nutritious, varied and seasonal food. This role is best suited to a professional career cook, who is capable of cooking really good family Ottolenghi style food, but who is also happy to muck in and be helpful around the home which does include helping with children and housekeeping. Previous housekeeping experience is required.

The cook will be responsible for weekly menu plannings (interacting with the client), shopping/ordering food, preparing and serving of food, stock control, kitchen hygiene and all organisation/cleaning of the kitchen, dining, playroom areas and one downstairs loo (training given on housekeeping but previous experience needed) – all deep cleans (ovens, fridges, cupboards etc).

Other responsibilities may include watching/caring for a couple of children if the nanny is out with another at a club or similar or picking one child up from school. This might be for a couple of hours, and is more ‘babysitting’ / keeping them safe, as opposed to nannying/doing homework etc. Someone warm and child friendly, happy working in busy households is essential. A fully flexible attitude and approach to ‘mucking in’ in a busy private household is absolutely essential. Must have a can do attitude and be able to work well in a team.

Hours will be Monday to Friday 10.30am – 8pm, with flexibility to work on weekends (With notice) required. Occasional earlier starts/later finishes may be required if entertaining/special event, again notice will be provided. Flexibility required around hours to ensure the job is done and fulfilled each day, some days may be an earlier finish – the cook will finish when the kitchen is tidy and clean. On Fridays the cook will also need to prepare food that can be eaten/re-heated for the weekend.

The cook will need to be nutrition focussed – healthy Ottolenghi style, low sugar, salt etc. cooking is enjoyed. Meals needed are breakfast (prepped in the fridge at the end of each day for the next day), lunch, healthy snacks and dinner. The children frequently eat the same as the adults and enjoy a varied diet, they are not fussy. The children and adults may eat at separate times. No fine dining required – this is family style sharing food done really well. If they are occasionally entertaining then dinner party standard fine dining may be required.

The family travel in the school holidays – this candidate would then be required to do the deep cleans, or take annual leave. The preference is for the candidate to take their annual leave in the school holiday periods when the family are away.

This role is to start as soon as possible, but they would initially start the role on a freelance/trial basis.

Salary depends on experience, and expectations.
