To start in July/August 2024. A fit, pro-active and hard working LIVE IN handyperson/driver/assistant gardener is required at a private home in a rural part of the South West. The candidate must have Internal and External handyperson/DIY and decorating skills and should be prepared to assist with the gardening (when required) and also act occasionally as driver/ chauffeur.
There is 10 acres of garden, simple maintenance will be required working alongside the head gardener on occasions.
The main hours of the job will be Monday - Friday either 8am-5pm (with 1 hour for lunch) or can be 4 hours a day (either mornings and afternoonts) with some flexibility required at the weekends/evenings for driving on occasions. A car will be provided for both work and personal use. The member of staff will only pay for the fuel they use for their own personal use.
A small detached 2 bed cottage is provided - rates paid but not electric/gas - this property will be unfurnished. You should enjoy working for a private family, remaining discreet, calm and professional at all times. No job should be too small and flexibility will be key in this role, as with any job in a private home. You should be honest and reliable and become a trusted member of the team.
Pets and Partners considered in the cottage. Previous experience in a similar role would be beneficial - not essential but must have excellent maintenance/handyman skills, and good attention to detail.
Requirements:
Full clean UK driving licence
Fluent in English
Proof of eligibility to work in the UK
A flexible, mature attitude
Discreet and trustworthy
Excellent DIY and maintenance skills essential
Experience working in large private households preferred
Ability to drive to an excellent and safe standard
Able to stay calm under pressure and act to last minute requests with ease
Salary circa £depends on Experience/expectations - full time (paid on a payroll with standard state pension scheme) with house/car included. If part time 4 hours a week it would be paid pro rata.
