Our Process

We develop strong working relationships with all our candidates who will be interviewed, fully reference checked and vetted before we introduce you. We get to know their strengths and weaknesses, their favourite things to cook, and what would be their worst nightmare. Our experience in the cooking world means we know what you need so you can be rest assured, we know what we are talking about when it comes to finding you the right person.

Who We Are 

Ella Canby (née Prichard) - london, UK and international recruitment

Upon leaving school, Ella embarked on a cookery course at The Grange in Somerset. This was swiftly followed by a ski season as a Chalet Girl. It was here where she got the cooking bug, and upon her return she signed up to the diploma course at Leiths School of Food and Wine. Ella then went travelling around the UK and Europe working as a private chef for a variety of clients. 

At the age of 21, Ella was put out of action in the kitchen following a tumble on the slopes. She moved back to London and joined the office of Lumleys Cooks in Pimlico, where she developed a wonderful working relationship with many of her clients and candidates; she really grew to learn how the market worked. Ella then made the move back to catering, and gained experience in a number of different environments. This included organising weddings for up to 200 people, assisting with the running of a Cookery School, and managing the catering at a Polo Club. In 2012, Ella set up her own bespoke cake business, Sugarella Cakes, which she ran for 5 successful years and ended up with producing her famous brownies for Fortnum & Mason.

When she found herself looking for work as a chef in more recent months, she realised this was her moment to start her own agency with a personal and bespoke service. An agency that cares as much about their candidates as their clients. 

As Ella has first-hand experience working as a private chef for over 12 years, she feels she is the best person to be recruiting for this industry. Not only does Ella know what the client wants, she also knows what the candidate wants and feels this is the combination both parties need. Sugarella Cooks was born in October 2015, it continues to grow and has so far succeeded in many happy placements.
