#1671 - Full/Part Time Chef required - Oundle PE8 - To start ASAP

A full time Chef is required for a busy working family of 4 located in Oundle (PE8) is required to prepare and serve a high standard of food on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will work Tuesday - Saturday with Sunday and Monday off, or Monday – Thursday and Saturday (with Fridays and Sundays off). The client is flexible to look at all options available eg. 3-4 days a week as well.

It is essential the chef is experienced and able to produce a variety of cuisines. They will need to be independent and confident and able to menu plan, have brief discussions regarding the menu with the client, and then quietly crack on with their work without interrupting the clients too much.

It is a family of 4 – 2 adults and 2 children age almost 7 (boy) and 10 (girl). There is absolutely no childcare involved – this is purely a chef role with the focus being on the food and keeping the kitchen, cupboards, fridges well stocked, clean and organised.

Ideally the chef will prepare healthy homemade substantial snacks for the children when they return from school (and additional for holidays/weekends), breakfast items to be left in the fridge for the family to help themselves to in the mornings, lunch (for two adults during term time and for the kids as well during the holidays – these could be packed lunches if they are going to a club), and the evening meal. Some evenings the family will all eat together for dinner, some evenings the children will eat around 6pm, and the adults will eat around 8/8.30pm. It is essential the chef is there to cook, serve and clear up the evening meal, the other meals are more flexible to help themselves to depending on what is happening.

There may be occasional dinner parties when the family entertain, so the chef should be flexible to do these when required. Notice will be given.

Food should be served plated – a refined style is required – the family enjoy their food and would like good home cooked food to a high standard. The children and adults will eat the same food most of the time, sometimes with the necessary adaptations for the children to make it more child friendly.

Dinners would be two courses – main and pudding. Lunches more flexible depending on whether the adults are at home or not – they both work from home, but also do have periods where they are working elsewhere and may not be around. The chef will cook in a relatively small kitchen, and the family will eat in a separate dining room. The chef will need to be organised and work in a tidy manner. They should be discreet and self motivated.

There are no strict dietary requirements or health requests, but the family prefer to avoid chopped liver, beetroot (male principal). They particularly enjoy Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese food and their daughter enjoys shellfish. They also like traditional English food. Someone able to offer variety, all to a good standard, using good ingredients and cooking seasonally is important. Everything to be made from scratch.

Ideally the candidate will work as a self employed freelance chef, but they are open to putting someone on a payroll too. Accommodation can be available if there is no one available locally.
