A cook/nanny is required for one month working Monday to Friday 6 June - 6 July, living in during the week in Hertfordshire.
The role is to look after a family with young children concentrating on cooking and childcare with some housekeeping management.
The family are looking for someone organised, independent, able to manage a large busy family household, and become part of the family, but someone the two busy working parents can rely on to keep things running smoothly and efficiently. It is really important you are happy to cook and look after children and be part of a family life.
The food preparation will fall under three broad headings:
Day-to-day cooking for the family in UK including breakfast, lunch and supper
Entertaining cooking when required
The family enjoy healthy mainly vegetarian food, lots of fish, occasional meat and BBQs etc but largeley enjoy healthy and interesting salads/vegetables etc.
The kitchen tasks will be:
Menu planning, Shopping and ordering, Food preparation / cooking, Clearing away meals etc.
The family comprises four adults and two children aged 6 and 8 plus an older son who returns at weekends and university holidays.
Childcare will include: During term time: Getting the children up, dressed and fed, Delivering them to school (you must drive and be happy driving 4x4s), collecting from school, managing interaction with school (games kit, homework etc), giving evening meal and bed/bathtime.
During the school holidays you will be responsible for supervising their play at home, Transport to and from activities, Meals, Bathing and putting to bed.
A 4x4 will be provided to drive or if you do not want to drive a big car, a smaller car may be able to be provided.
Housekeeping - There will be someone to take care of the majority of cleaning, washing and ironing but you will be required to tidy after meals, launder some school kit, manage the cleaners etc. You must be able to take charge of the house. There will be times when the parents are both away, so you must be aware of this and that this job is not just a cooking job, you are working for a family and must be willing to be part of the childrens life and organising them, assisting with teeth brushing etc.
Salary depends on experience – lovely accommodation provided and incluldes all bills – water, electric, heating, council tax.
Hours: In general hours are Monday – Friday starting around 6.30am in the term time, doing breakfast, taking the kids to school. The cook/nanny can organise their own time in the day to ensure they are organised and should be back on duty around 4pm-8pm to do homework, kids supper (and dinner for adults), bath, teeth brushing and bed time, and leave/serve dinner for adults if they are there. Weekends will be requested in advance and will be for entertaining purposes.
It is very important you are aware that the main priority with this job is the children and you must enjoy children and be happy to look after them and act as stand in mum.
