On Hold - EXPERIENCED Permanent private chef required - St Johns Wood, London - Monday-Friday - £60,000

The clients are holding this job until after Summer 2019.

An experienced chef is required for a family of 4 based in St Johns Wood London.

The chef must have extensive experience in the industry and should be used to ever changing plans, menus, diet requirements and last minute requests. Menus are decided on a DAILY basis and can change at the last minute so you must have the experience and knowledge and flexibility to be able to cope with this, as well as being able to keep a calm and positive attitude in the household.

Hours in London are Monday - Friday 11am - 9pm (approx) and you will be cooking lunch for the wife of the family (which is decided on in the morning and timings for lunch will vary, sometimes you will have 20-30 minutes notice), healthy snacks, supper for two kids (age 12 and 16), and dinner for two adults (but sometimes only one adult as the other may have business meetings).

The chef should have good knowledge and interest in cooking plant based vegan dishes, but should also be able to do a variety of dishes and have experience in creating Asian fusion, Mediterranean and Italian. The wife of the family enjoys plant based vegan dishes at lunch time and has protein in the evening. They like to have a healthy diet, limited carbs. The chef should have an interest in creating healthy dishes.

All meals are individually plated for each member of the family, and sometimes you may be cooking different meals for each member of the family.

You will also be required to cook for 4 members of household staff - lunch and dinner - these are simple dishes.

If you are applying for the permanent position, you would also be required to travel to St Tropez for 6 weeks in the summer with the family and during this period the numbers to cater for are larger as they do more entertaining, and you will also be required to work weekends and it is more full on. In London it is generally just the family of 4, and the 4 staff members.

When working in London the role is LIVE OUT, when in St Tropez accommodation will be provided.

You must be used to catering to an extremely high standard with high demands. You will also be responsible for keeping the kitchen (ovens, fridges, cupboards etc) clean, and for all shopping and stock/ordering.

Generous permanent salary offered plus 28 days holiday a year including bank holidays.

If interested in the temporary option, you must be able to commit to the clients in London for at least one month.

Interested candidates must have:

  • Extensive portfolio of photographs of their food or a website / instagram page showcasing pictures of their OWN dishes (not someone elses or of anything personal)

  • More than two recent references

  • Been cooking for at least 7 years on an ongoing basis

  • Experience in private households and references to prove this

  • Excellent food presentation skills

  • A calm, flexible and positive, hard working attitude
