An experienced chalet chef is required for a luxury chalet based in Meribel, France. You will be cooking for between 9-12 people doing breakfasts (cooked to order and continental), picnic style lunches, afternoon tea, 3-4 course dinners plus canapes every night, 6 days a week.
High standards are required and you should have previous experience from Michelin or Rosette level restaurants, or have had extensive private household or yacht cheffing experience. Presentation of your food should be superb, you should be able to handle differing diet requirements and demanding requests.
You will have a host working with you so your job is to do all the food side of things - shopping, menu planning, prepping, cooking and plating up. You will also need to be in charge of the kitchen and keeping it clean - kitchens are open plan so you should feel comfortable cooking in front of guests.
A trial will take place before an offer of employment is given. You must be committed to doing a winter season, be 100% honest and reliable, have an excellent portfolio of food photos and/or instagram page, have reliable references from your most recent employers, be presentable and able to work well in a team. You should be a really passionate chef and enjoy food as much as wanting to be in the mountains for the winter.
Your own room will be provided in a good standard staff shared apartment. You must drive, have a national insurance number and British bank account.
£425 gross per week, plus all usual perks: ski pass and hire, insurance, accommodation, return flights from the UK, guest tips etc.
