A very competent chef is required to work part time for a family based in Kensington, London working on Thursdays and Fridays during term time, but who is also flexible and willing to travel with the family during school holidays to other destinations including California in the summer and Switzerland in the Autumn/Winter (the travelling part is essential).
Approximately 14 weeks of travel per year and this does include a large stint over the summer and a couple of weeks over the Christmas/New Year period so you must be willing to commit to this. The Christmas 2018/19 dates are 16th December - 9th January.
You would be employed on a self employed, freelance basis paid a generous day rate. It is essential that you are able to plate food individually to a very high standard. You must also be incredibly confident in the kitchen and able to cater to last minute changes and requests. It is important that you have knowledge of wellness and health and can excel at cooking plant based food, in addition to a more varied diet as different members of the household eat different things.
In London you will be shopping for and cooking for approx 2 adults plus any guests at lunch time, then snacks for 2 adults and 3 kids (teenage boys), and dinner (always formally plated) for 2 adults and 3 kids. When travelling, the days are more full on with all 3 meals a day to be catered for and more regular entertaining.
You must have very good knowledge of food and ingredients, able to cook meat and fish extremely well and have creative ideas for plant based dishes. Presentation is really really important and you should have had formal training. You must be personable and friendly and easy to have around the house - you will be working in an open plan kitchen with the clients coming in and out all the time.
You must be a driver and happy to drive 4x4s when travelling with them. Accommodation is provided in the travel destinations, but not in London.
