To start 3rd September 2018 – ideally to trial before hand but may wait for the right person and do trials after chefs return from their busy summer.
Freelance, self employed part time chef required for a family of 5 with 3 girl children aged 3, 6, 8. The family would like a chef to come into their home to prepare food that can be re heated. To work on Mondays and Thursdays. Mondays (preparing food for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday), Thursdays (preparing food for Thursdays, Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
Hours depend on chefs requirements but will include shopping, ordering, menu planning, cooking, and clearing up. Therefore approx. 8 hours per day (16 hours a week).
The chef must be self employed and be happy to be given notice (minimum 16 weeks) of periods that the clients are away on holiday and therefore you will not be required and can find alternative work/have these days off. The clients tend to travel during school holiday periods (July/August, December, March/April). During these dates the chef should be happy to find other work. The chef must also be aware that they are not paid for any days they do not cook for the clients (including sick days). You must have a UTR number and be fully registered as self employed. Invoices will be paid bi-weekly. Occasional flexibility may be allowed on the odd occasion regarding the days of work, but this should be a rare occurrence and the chef therefore must be able to commit Mondays and Thursdays to this client and not keep changing the days. The chef must be committed to the family, and longevity is important. It is very important this chef enjoys the nature of working as a freelance chef with a regular 2 day a week commitment. It is important you do not drop the family for a 'bigger and better job' on the days you are supposed to be working for them.
It is important that the chef is child friendly – the children have an interest in cooking and may be around and ask you questions. You must also like dogs as they have a dog.
English/American family. Relatively informal but fully staffed – they also have a housekeeper and nanny. Discretion and the ability to get on with the household staff is extremely important.
Food must be: Low carbs, no gluten or sugar (sugar free). They eat meat, fish, curry, Mexican etc and are quite adventurous, including the children. It is important the chef is experienced and adaptable and able to produce good quality healthy meals for the family to re heat. You must be a tidy and organised worker.
