A permanent, experienced and professional chef is required for a private family based between London (Knightsbridge), Hampshire and France.
These clients are looking for someone capable who is able to cook for the family and guests - to a high standard when entertaining. You must understand, and have a passion for, food and the clients would like someone experienced in creating sugar and gluten free dishes that taste good. It is really important that you are able to cook well for a healthy diet. At the moment the clients go out to entertain alot in restaurants, but would like to live a more healthy lifestyle and have a chef that is conscious of this.
During the winter, they have around 5 shoot weekends in Hampshire and the family enjoy eating game, so you must be experienced in cooking for shoots and catering for this at a high standard. When the clients travel to France they are usually not there for any longer than a week, but the chef should be flexible to travel with them.
It is extremely important that you are able to work tidily as occasionally the clients will eat in the kitchen which is all open plan.
When the clients entertain in their various properties there will be help for all service. In Hampshire they have a vegetable garden and the chef is required to liaise with the gardener and use the produce from there to create things, and must be able to use their initiative about this. The clients would like someone who is able to create menus that they are happy with, without having to be asked the whole time about them. The chef needs to take charge and be aware of the things the clients do and do not like.
The atmosphere is a formal environment, so if you are not used to working in a formal private household setting for formal clients, this job will not be suitable for you. You must be discreet and happy working in the kitchen and on some days you may not see the client. Presentation of food must be clean and beautiful, not lots of sauces all over the food. It is very important that, as the chef, you are able to get on with the other staff in the house. Accommodation in London/Hampshire and France can all be provided. If you are based in London then live out is fine, but you will be expected to travel to Hampshire and France when the clients are in residence and you will be living on site. You must be able to drive but your own car is not essential.
This is a permanent 5 day week job with Mondays and Tuesdays off. If there is ever a week where you are required to work on a Monday/Tuesday, time off in lieu will be given. There will be periods when the clients are away (travelling) and you will not be required. The clients know their dates of travel well in advance and can give you all of these dates so that you can either take your own holiday or work elsewhere.
Job to be offered on either a permanent, salaried basis, or as a self employed daily rate depending on chef preference. Salary depends on experience and to be discussed.
