Fun Cook required for childrens camp holiday - Hertfordshire

A chalet style, fun and energetic cook that loves kids is required for the following dates (you should be available for all stints):

  • 9th – 27th July
  • 20th – 24th August
  • 28th August – 1st September

Location: Hertfordshire (please ensure you are able to get there yourself - no one will be able to pick you up, so best either you can have someone you know drop you off and pick you up, or you have your own car).

The role is for a camp chef for Summer Camps for kids aged 8-13 with groups of 20-40 children.  
The chef will have use of a decent size family kitchen with one cooker and x 4 hobs, so they need to be slightly creative! The chef would also need to run a few cookery workshops throughout the week with up to 10 children.  

The food that the chef cooks needs to be relatively healthy, yet delicious, with a strong focus on making the children (aged between 8-13) aware of 'health'. The staff on the camps will also be eating this food. 

The number of people each week is around 30-50 people. 

A typical day: 
8am Breakfast
11am Snack

1pm Lunch/Pudding
4pm Snack

7pm Supper/Pudding

Please see below the idea of a typical camp menu: 
Breakfast: Scrambled Egg on Toast / Cereals
Morning Snack: Brownies
Cooking workshop: Cupcakes
Lunch: Chicken Fajitas
Pudding: Fruit
Afternoon Snack: Cupcakes
Dinner: Sausage and mash with onion gravy
Pudding: Apple Crumble

The chef will be paid £100 per day and if there are more than 40 people on a camp, then they will employ x2 chefs. 

The chef will be camping with the rest of the staff throughout the summer and is expected to help look after the children in their down time and welcome to get stuck into 'team games' if they have free time. 
In the evenings camp staff (including the chef) will be encouraged to spend time together around the camp fire and  will sleep together in traditional bell tents close to the children in case of any emergencies. 
It will be a really fun and enjoyable summer for someone and would suit a chalet style cook who has just finished a ski season and looking to get some extra bits and pieces in over the summer.
