A privately owned deli is looking for a part time member of staff to join their team to take main control of the kitchen.
The right person will be a skilled cook experienced in modern food trends (and with a growing interest in this) with a passion to grow and succeed. They should be settled in their London life and want to take on this opportunity as a new challenge where they can really get involved, hit the ground running, and stay forever or at least for a long time. The owner is not looking for someone who is taking on this job as a ‘stop gap’ before they take on their next venture or someone who is likely to be unavailable at short notice or suddenly leave.
It would suit someone that perhaps lives fairly locally who is looking for a quieter pace of life that would enjoy the hustle and bustle of working in a busy deli.
Currently they offer a cooked breakfast/brunch service which is catered for from a very small kitchen with just a hob and a sink. The space in the shop is very small so if you are expecting a huge glamourous shop and kitchen, this job is not for you. It is basic and sweet. Dogs are allowed into the shop as well. There are only a few tables for people to sit at, so there may be times where a lot of people are in the shop and there is not much room to move!
The cook should also be happy to serve at the till and make coffees (training will be given). You should be creative and happy to offer new ideas to the table but also be happy to take instruction from the owner who has been running the place for several years and knows what works and what doesn’t.
You must be customer facing and friendly and extremely reliable and responsible. Eventually you could be overseeing the whole shop and goings on so you must not let the owner down, and the owner should feel he can go away and leave you to it.
Days of work can be set each week, but will be on a rota basis and will be 3-4 days a week, one day always being a Saturday or a Sunday, and sometimes you may need to work Saturday and Sunday in one week. The weekends are their busiest times. Obviously you are given holiday so can book special weekends off in advance when you know you have plans. If you are worried about your social life and going out/coming in hungover – this job is NOT for you! The hours are always day time – they are never open in the evening. Hours approximately 7.30am – 4pm but these may vary.
Salary can either be paid by the hour or on a permanent contract. Initial trial period of one month where you will be paid on an hourly rate. Depending on your experience, salary will vary but will be starting from circa £12.50/hour.
